I’ve noticed
When some celeb dies
I first think,
“Another
“One who’s managed to escape
“These terrible times.”

But soldiers have their orders
Month of popping trees

The heat just came on
Something rattles in the vent
Hail petroleum

Wind from this snow squall
The drafty windows rattle
My aunt made this quilt

Boots slide from under
Coccyx smacks street like anvil
Damn you, foul black ice!
